UN Moldova, FIA

#CommunicationCampaign #Concept #Event #Site #SuccessStories

“SDG Cooperation Forum. Private Sector for Sustainable Development” and communication campaign organised by PARC Communications PR agency at the initiative of UN Moldova and Foreign Investors Association in the Republic of Moldova in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Moldova and key stakeholders from public authorities, civil society and private sector from all sectors.

Task:

Increase awareness and commitment of Moldovan businesses to integrate the SDGs into their corporate strategies and operations. Enhance cooperation and partnership between businesses, government agencies, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to achieve the SDGs.

Challenge:

The majority of entrepreneurs in Moldova consider that achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) depends solely on the UN and Governments, but public-private co-operation is of primary importance. The role of the private sector in achieving the SDGs and sustainable development as a whole is defined by the ability of businesses, to be agents of change by adopting and implementing sustainable development as part of business processes. However, leaders of Moldovan enterprises most often do not align their business processes with the SDGs, even with the implementation of ESG reporting and active social and environmental engagement.

Solution:

The SDG Business Forum brought together business leaders, authorities and key stakeholders to discuss and collaborate on innovative strategies to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in the Republic of Moldova. The Forum participants were able to assess the potential of private sector partnership with the UN Agencies in Moldova, which are already implementing joint projects and consulting companies in Moldova, and are ready to expand this partnership. Special attention at the Forum was paid to the European integration impulse that companies from Moldova have received in the context of Moldova's Integration into the European Union. In the context of these new opportunities, expectations from the European market and from Moldovan companies were presented in terms of their compliance with EU ESG practices and sustainability generally.

  • The Forum was prepared in co-operation with UN agencies and major foreign investors - FIA members.

  • The forum attracted more than 150 representatives of business, authorities, media and key stakeholders.

  • Media partners from different media formats were involved in promoting and covering the Forum.

  • The Forum website www.sdgmoldova.org was developed to consolidate communication.

  • UN Moldova, together with FIA, plans to continue working together to promote the role and practices of the private sector in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
